Within all the target risk, contractors account for the largest portion of environmental insurance written. There are many types of contractors in the marketplace, and each has their own specific exposures to environmental claims. For 30 years, Legends has focused on placing environmental coverage for contractors and matching each individual risk with the applicable coverage’s. Although each risk is different, we have broken out contractors into three main subsets:

Non Environmental Contractors (Including Artisan / Trade Contractors)
Energy Contractors
Environmental Contractors

Non Environmental Contractors - Return

The coverage placed most for non-environmental contractors is CPL - (Contractors Pollution Liability) The Contractors Pollution Liability (CPL) Policy offers solutions specifically developed for contractors, which prevent gaps in coverage due to pollution-related exclusions on standard commercial general liability programs. These policies are available for contractors on a practice, project or excess basis.

Environmental Contractors -
Return

Environmental Contracting has been one of the fastest expanding market segments for the past decade. Insured’s in this segment range from Asbestos Contractors to Waste Haulers. With ever increasing government regulation and environmental sustainability awareness, this market segment is poised to continue to expand for years to come.

The coverage most often written for Environmental Contractors is GL / CPL / PL Package Policies (TPL often times added)

These packages provide the broadest possible coverage for contractors whose operations include contact with jobs or materials which can cause or have already caused a pollution event. The combining of commercial general liability with contractor’s pollution, professional liability, and transportation liability provides a strong net of protection while remaining very competitive from a pricing standpoint. Some Environmental contracting operations involve not only work at a third party site, but also the removal of materials from jobsite back to the insured’s location where additional services are rendered. Those materials, which can include solid waste, chemicals, or any other contaminated product, present a pollution exposure to the contractor at his owned (or first party) location. Pollution coverage for an owned location is provided via Environmental Impairment Liability. Legends can combine the GL / CPL and Site pollution to cover not only the contracting operations of the insured, but also to protect the exposure present at the insured's location.

What is an Environmental Contractors Package?

• This policy combines multiple lines of coverage into one policy with shared limits; eliminating the need for multiple policies with ...differing forms and conditions. The standard General Liability policy excludes Pollution and Professional coverage. By combining
...them into one policy, insured's eliminate coverage gaps, and can take advantage of combined pricing.

• Coverage can be structured to share one aggregate or provide separate aggregates for each coverage part.
• Insured's operations can be a mix of Environmental and non-Environmental. Usually 35% must be Environmental work
...for consideration.
• Can be Environmental or Energy related.
• Coverage is available on an occurrence or claims made basis.
